The Effects of Schroth Breathing Exercises and Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercises on the Pulmonary Function of Adults in Their 20¡¯s
Kim Byung-Kon

Han Jong-Man
Abstract
The purpose of this research was to compare the effects of Schroth and diaphragmatic breathing exercises on lung volume, eccentric exercises, and concentric exercises. 30 subjects were divided evenly into two groups, one that practiced Schroth breathing exercises and the other that practiced diaphragmatic breathing exercises. For six weeks the forced vital capacity of the paitients was measured before and after the breathing exercises. The comparative analysis of this study showed that the Schroth method was more effective in lung volume than diaphragmatic breathing exercises. Further studies should be conducted on any changes in prognosis that may result from the long-term intervention of Schroth breathing exercises and diaphragmatic breathing exercises on patients of deep respiratory diseases
